Here is how getting set up with Tech Doctor works, from the first call to your first transaction.
1. Sign up and get your terminals programmed
Get in touch and tell us about your business. Once you sign up, we program your mobile or countertop terminals for the kinds of transactions you take, and set them up to work with the systems you already use. Every terminal supports PIN-based transactions, which cuts fraud and chargebacks.
2. Buy or rent your terminals
You can buy each terminal outright for a one-time fee that covers programming, delivery and help with setup. You own it, and there are no ongoing hardware charges.
Or you can rent terminals for a monthly fee. That keeps your upfront cost down, and suits a business that only needs terminals for a while. Either way, we deliver the terminals and make sure they are ready to use.
3. Choose Wi-Fi or cellular
Terminals can run on your business Wi-Fi, which costs nothing extra if your connection is reliable. If you move around, or your Wi-Fi is patchy, choose cellular instead and take payments anywhere with a signal.
4. Set your transaction fee
We charge a flat fee per transaction, usually between $2.50 and $4.00. The exact amount depends on things like your business’s risk level and how many transactions you run. We look at your business and give you the best rate we can.
5. Pass the fee on to your customers
You can add the flat fee to each purchase. Tell customers about it up front; many are used to fees like this once they know what it is for. We can give you signage templates for the counter, and the fee can appear as its own line on receipts.
6. Learn what the terminals can and cannot do
We walk you through what our card processors can and cannot do, including the PIN requirement and why it makes payments safer. We also train your staff, so they can help customers at checkout and keep the line moving.
7. Get support when you need it
Our customer service line is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, for technical problems and questions about transactions. You also get a dedicated account agent for practical matters like adding terminals, upgrading your service, or cancelling. As your business grows, you can add terminals or services at any time.
